Why not?

It's been a long time coming...same as my posts...but we're back! I have never, in my 31 years of existence, witnessed a Notre Dame men's basketball team undefeated at home. Most collegiate athletic fans of the University of Notre Dame are die hard football fans. But the roots come from basketball. As a kid, I was only fortunate enough to attend the basketball games...football tickets were few and far between. I grew up cheering for the David Rivers, the Damon Sweets, the Elmer Bennetts, the Ryan Hoovers. I grew up watching the end of Digger, and the beginning of what would turn out to be a long growing process. Transition into the Big East, the Ross twins, and John McCloud. I never stopped watching. I love being at the Joyce, although I wish the older ticket holders would stand up a little. Trust me, I know you're old, but get off you're fricking feet or give your tickets to me.
This year was not a surprise for me, for some it was, but for me...I knew for a long time that either this year...or next year that Irish basketball fans would be rejoicing on Juniper Road on a consistent basis. It didn't always seem this way though, with the sudden KMac scandal, and throwing a freshmen point guard in the mix, it didn't look as promising as I would of hoped heading into Big East play. However, TJ grew into his role faster than I thought, faster than people even know right now. This kid is amazing, and while you have the Ogdens and the Durants, there are 2 Notre Dame freshmen who will be talked about longer than these in and out money hungry drop-outs. So as we head into our last Big East game against Rutgers, everything is on the line...a lock for a bye in the Big East tourney, and an impressive season that many though would end up in the gutter. So I tip my hat to the great Colin Falls, and Mr. Russell Carter, who as a duo, helped lead this team to 22-6 heading into March. GO IRISH!!!!
